That’s where you come in! Submit your ideas of who you think should replace William Allen in National Statuary Hall – and why.

What you need to know:

  1. Research is key. Find out as much as you can about your candidate by visiting your local library, the State Archives, historical sites or other places where you can get more information.
  2. Allen’s replacement must be deceased.
  3. Relate your candidate as closely as you can to Ohio. Allen’s replacement is not required to have been born or even spent most of his/her life in Ohio. However, your candidate’s ties to Ohio should be obvious.
  4. Don’t limit yourself. Even though Ohio became a state more than 200 years ago, Ohio’s ancient and modern history spans more than 12,000 years. Anyone from Ohio’s past (as long as they are no longer alive) is eligible.

Be creative. Be scholarly. Be inclusive. Be persuasive. Send an e-mail, make a presentation, send a video, create a “Wiki” page, post a blog or simply write a letter. Don’t be a statue! The Study Committee anxiously awaits your input!
