Military: Ohioans have contributed countless numbers of its sons and daughters to military campaigns dating back as far as Ohio statehood. Even during peacetime, Ohioans have contributed more than their fair share to the nation’s armed forces. During the Civil War, especially, Ohio-born generals helped lead the way to northern victory. Some of Ohio’s highest-raking men and women in uniform include: Ulysses S. Grant, William Tecumseh Sherman, Eddie Rickenbacker, Robert Beightler and Curtis LeMay. WEho else can you think of?
